20ft Used High Cube Open Top Container — Wind & Watertight (Ref 2792)
This 20ft used hc open top container adds 305mm of internal height over a standard open top unit — giving crane operators and riggers more vertical clearance when lowering tall or oversized cargo into the container from above. The removable bows and weatherproof tarpaulin give full top access for crane loading while keeping the load protected in transit. The swing-out door header opens the full front end wall for items too tall to clear a standard door frame. Internal lashing rings on both side walls secure the load during road and sea transport. Built to ISO 668 Series 1 dimensional standards.

Why the High Cube Profile Matters on an Open Top
The extra 305mm of internal clearance matters in two specific scenarios. When crane-loading cargo that comes close to the container’s internal height, the extra clearance reduces the risk of contact between the load and the side walls during lowering. When storing or transporting tall items — fabricated steelwork, structural columns, or large machinery components that would sit proud of the top rail on a standard unit — the HC profile keeps the load within the container envelope for weather protection under the tarpaulin.
The unit suits civil construction, engineering fabrication, mining equipment transport, and industrial plant operators regularly handling out-of-gauge loads. The removable bows and tarpaulin travel with the container on every movement and provide structural support to the open frame. The swing-out door header at the front end removes to give a second loading option when a crane approach is not practical.
Note: If cargo exceeds the container height entirely, a flat rack — with no roof and no walls — is the right alternative.
Key Features
- High cube profile — 9′6″ external, 8′10″ internal height (305mm more than standard open top)
- Wind & watertight — structurally sound Cor-Ten steel shell
- Removable steel bows — full crane top-loading access
- Weatherproof tarpaulin included — rope-secured, travels with unit
- Swing-out door header — full end wall access for tall cargo
- Internal lashing rings on both side walls — secure load restraint
- Marine ply floor — handles forklift and pallet loads
- ISO Series 1 corner castings — crane, forklift, twistlock compatible
Typical Applications
- Civil construction — crane-served storage of fabricated steel, formwork panels, and site materials
- Engineering fabrication — transport of over-height structural components
- Mining and industrial plant — equipment components and spare parts too tall for standard doors
- Scrap, timber, and bulk material handling — top-loading via grab crane or conveyor
- Modification base — over-height cargo access for specialty conversions
